It feels like it’s been ages since I wrote to you lovely lot. How are you all? It seems summer is over. However much I cling on to the idea of long hot days, we are now past Autumn exquinox, so the cold and dark are marching in at an alarming rate.
So much has happened. That special wedding I hinted at in my last blog offering was an all dried flower wedding. I am now updating you that my “dry bride” is now happily married. Mother Nature behaved on the day and there was no rain… a big worry for “Archie” my dried arrangement designed to adorn a beautiful wooden arch crafted by the groom that was standing outside the main entrance to the most beautiful wedding venue, Bake Barn near Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Dry florals are a thing that have cropped up through my work for a while now, but always an accent, never the main event. This wedding really allowed me to explore the use of dried blooms only. A challenge that I absolutely relished. So much so, not only are dried florals here to stay at Floral Rebellion, they will be making much more noise alongside the fresh stems and the willow. As you will know, It is important to me to ensure that I am working as naturally as possible. Did you know many dried flowers are bleached and/or dyed?! Not only do I feel this is this bad for the environment, I also feel it distracts from Mother Nature’s raw beauty, she does it well enough without us dickering too much! I will be focusing on naturally dried flowers with unaltered colours.
Moving forward, I am loathed to mention the C word, but it is certainly on my mind. Workshops will be coming back this year, both wreath making and a new idea that will be trailing at West Dean Social Club in Hampshire. Please keep you eyes on social media for updates.
I am also attending more artisan craft sales than ever this year. There will be wreath making kits, wreaths, willow crafts and dried flowers for you to buy as unique arrangements for the home and alternative gifts for loved ones this year. Again, please stay up to date with social media so you can pop along and say hi in person.
Look after yourselves,
Catch up soon.
