Hello January

Hello January

January is my most loathed month anyway (I am a lizard, the weather conditions are simply not agreeable) but with another lockdown to boot, my initial reaction to the start of the year was black! However, having slapped myself a couple of times, I came to realise that actually I had a lot to do.

Faffing with foliage is really the icing on the cake when it comes to going solo and running my own floristry business. So much more goes on behind the scenes! This month, wrestling the content for this website into submission was a biggy. The ever patient and highly skilled Sophie Murphy willing me along so she can do her magic and wizardry really was a God send. I cannot thank her enough for her support and the beautiful branding and website that she has crafted for me. Don’t you just love Ian, my beloved stag now leading the Floral Rebellion charge?

Looking ahead, we have Valentine’s Day. It would not be a Floral Rebellion if I churned out the same as everyone else! I can promise you there will not be a red rose nor a breath of gyp in sight! Did you know? According to the practice of Ornithomancy, the practice of reading omens from the actions of birds, a single woman can predict what sort of man she may marry by taking note if the first bird she sees on Valentine's day. Keep your eyes open girls, and let me know what you spot!

As a result of the Covid restrictions, I have heard that some women are choosing to send flowers to their friends this year on Valentine’s Day. One friend telling another how much they are loved is a part of my job that always makes me smile.

Anyway, we are weeks past the Winter Solstice now. The light is gently returning along with the early morning bird song.

Catch you next month.
