Well, November. Mother Nature was kind to me at times, she knows my distaste for the Winter and did actually give me some warmth in the sun.. but towards the end it all got a bit wild and COLD! I am still clinging desperately to the dream of that cocktail in a coconut shell…
Black Friday came and went. A date that is hard on small businesses who feel pressured to join in and offer a discount, yet are trying to give good value for money all year round! I have shopped small and/or local much more this year and am truly relishing in the process. I am meeting some fantastic makers and getting some bloody good stuff too! Stunning Christmas cards from a local artist Fiona Forbes, with scenes that I recognize, beautifully scented candles from my friend at Nature’s Harvest who owns the bees that produce the wax that she makes with, and tools from an independent supplier who really knows his craft – I can’t let on who, or I will be giving away the surprise! Not to mention the treats sourced from Pritchetts Butchers, Spa Farm and Fi’s amazing (they really are) brownies that will see us eating like royalty over the festive period.
Things have been very busy at Floral Rebellion HQ. Christmas, as you know, has been in full swing here for a while now with preparations for the festive period, however it has certainly ramped up a gear now. Do it your own way wreath kits are being sent out, and workshops/parties/demos are well underway. New products have been launched and I am about to plan the Christmas bouquet, and as it is always a Rebellion around here, I can promise (as with Valentine’s Day) not a traditional red rose in sight. Keep your eyes on social media to see what I come up with.
Remember, please try to shop small/ shop local this Christmas, and help all those independants do a little happy dance when you purchase a gift through them. It really does happen!
