It’s February already!

It’s February already!

And I have not written to you lovely readers. Those that know me will understand why. January is intolerable to me, the cold, the dark and the misery just drags through what seems like a ridiculously long month. The only thing I have found that helps, is a break from work for the first couple of weeks. After that, getting to the end of the month feels more possible.

So Floral Rebellion Dog, the Rope-haired one and myself untied for a few days out on the Kennet and Avon. The Thames was a no go thanks to the weather, and admittedly the river sections were a little frisky, but we survived and was very grateful for a change of scene and time away.

And now here we are, February is knocking on the door. Which means for me Valentine’s day. I have been asked often why I choose not to include the traditional rose in my gift bouquets at this time of year. “The fact that it is expected”, is my initial answer, “who wants what everyone else is getting?” The whole idea of a Floral Rebellion is to stand out from the crowd, unconventional designs for standout souls. Another answer is I try to work seasonally, I am a Mother Nature lover, she doesn’t provide roses in England in February, and I like to use stems that have not had to be flown from another country. It is better for the environment and better for the bloom surely?

A Floral Rebellion Valentines Bouquet will not have roses, but will have a beautiful selection of florist choice flowers likely to include tulips, after all, their meaning is perfect and deep love, narcissi, alstroemeria and mixed foliage. I am fond of a bit of twiggery pokery and always a pheasant feather this time of year!

There is still time to nudge that loved one if you would like to be part of the rebellion this valentines day. AND this year you have choices, orders can be made through me directly OR I am working alongside the lovely folk at West Tytherley Village Shop who are taking orders for my bouquets with the offer of a very special delivery service on the morning of the 14th February. Do give them a call for more information if you would like that little extra.
