By popular demand, an Introduction to Willow Basket Weaving Course.
Over the course of 3 Friday sessions you will get a broader introduction to basket making than a stand alone, one day workshop. We will be talking about preparing your willow, learning techniques for round basket work and trying your hand at a number of different weaves, building on the previous week’s learning and adding something new each time. This course is designed specifically for beginners, you will be working in a very small group with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and get help/support where needed.
3 Sessions - 2nd Friday of each month. September 11th, October 9th and November 13th 9:30am-4:30pm
Session 1 – introducing how to make a base and weave up the sides to create a shallow basket with a simple track boarder.
Session 2 – we will be putting together the skills we learned last week alongside a new weave and creating a larger round basket than last week, with a more complex boarder.
Session 3: a more challenging basket where we really need to think about the shape we wish to achieve, we will also be adding a wooden handle.
I will have some additional projects up my sleeve if we have the time at the end of any session.
Refreshments: kettle is always on, there will be a selection of tea/coffee/biscuits and or cake.
Lunch: The lovely folk at Oaktrack Small holding are happy to provide you with lunch, for an additional £10 each (pre order through Steph required), or I am happy for you to bring something with you. Please note, there is no facility to re-heat anything, so sandwiches/salad etc.
Location: The Old Dairy, Enham Trust, Enham Alamein, Andover. SP11 6JS
